Where did our name come from
Where did our Chinese name come from?
The name "Ch Cha Chiu" originated from a wise monk who use to tell everyone who comes to him with their problems for advice to "ch cha chiu," which means go and have some tea. Many years later, in 1989, a Chinese poet who grasp this idea and puts it in a poem. The first two lines reveal that after having a pot of tea, one will find true joy, and the last two lines says that why spend all the years of self-cultivation when one can simply go have some tea." This phrase basically reminds us that we should live in the present and enjoy what's right in front of us. Based on this phrase, we named our tea house "ch cha chiu," reminding people to relax and enjoy the moment by having a cup of tea
Where did our English name come from?
All the teas in the world originated from China. In Guandon, Chinese people call tea, "cha", but in Fujian, people call it "tay. As tea starts to get imported from China to different places in the world, people call tea they way Chinese people call it, only changing the pronunciation a little to fit their vocalization. Thus every where in the world, tea is either pronounced "tay" or "cha." And that is how our English came about, tea for tea, cha FOR TEA!
